Rudolf Leon Smith was arrested in the fatal stabbing of a woman at 4601 Yellowstone

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a woman at 4601 Yellowstone about 4:20 p.m. on January 29.
Rudolf Leon Smith (b/m, DOB 12-23-80) is charged with murder in the 183rd State District Court for his role in the stabbing death of Gelandra Yvonne Word, 31, of 3822 Faulkner.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Semmelrock and Officer C.T. Hufstedler reported:
HPD patrol officers were called to a motel room at 4601 Yellowstone after the body of a female was discovered with multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A follow-up investigation determined Smith was involved in Ms. Word’s death. Smith was charged on February 21st in Word’s murder. Investigators learned he was already in custody at the Harris County Jail for a separate crime.
