Incident at 2102 McCarty
Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of one man and wounding of another at 2102 McCarty Drive about 8:20 a.m. on Friday (April 6).
The victim, Humberto Perez Rodriguez, 38, of 207 Westway in Galena Park, suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The second victim, Antonio Sanchez, 61, suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital for treatment.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Cruz and Officer R. Cervantes reported:
Mr. Rodriguez and Mr. Sanchez were traveling to work in a van and stopped at 7100 Clinton Drive for a passing train. As they waited, the suspect entered their van through the passenger’s side door and ordered Sanchez, at gunpoint, to the rear cargo area of the van. The suspect told Rodriguez to continue driving and directed him east on Clinton Drive then north on McCarty Drive.
Rodriguez then decided to drive the van into the parking lot of a business at 2102 McCarty Drive (the Supermercado Suksa), where he and Sanchez work. The suspect then shot Rodriguez several times and Sanchez one time before exiting the van and fleeing on foot.
The suspect was seen exiting a gray mini van prior to entering the victims’ van. The suspect is described only as a Hispanic male, 30 to 35 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. He has short dark hair and was last seen wearing a pink T-shirt and blue jeans.
