Duties: Mr. Maldonado is responsible for maintaining a court calendar. Mr. Maldonado maintains a notebook with all docket sheets to include case number, case style, hearing dates, and any court related information. Mr. Maldonado also serves as the contact person for the attorneys and pro se litigants.

Duties: Ms. Cameron is responsible for maintaining a record of all sessions of court. The record consists of full shorthand and/or stenograph machine notes of all oral testimony, rulings and remarks made by the court. Ms. Cameron also provides transcripts of any and all proceedings at the attorneys request and expense.

Duties: As the court interpreter, Mr. Long provides necessary translations from the Spanish language to the English language and vice versa during all hearings and/or trials.

As the grand jury bailiff, Mr. Long is responsible for tending to all of the needs of the 406 th Judicial District Court Grand Jury. Mr. Long also oversees the security measures at the 406 th District Court.

Duties: Mr. Lopez is responsible for securing the safety of the presiding judge and for maintaining order in the courtroom. Additionally, Mr. Lopez assists in overseeing security measures at the 406 th District Court.

Juan Roycroft

Duties: Mr. Roycroft is a certified peace officer and helps provide security at the 406 th District Court. Additionally, Mr. Roycroft is the lead officer on the 406 th District Court Warrant Enforcement Division. The warrant enforcement division follows up on any outstanding capias stemming from the 406 th District Court. This division is assisted primarily by members of the Webb County Sheriff's Office.

Duties: Mr. Martinez is a certified peace officer assigned to secure the courtroom. Additionally, Mr. Martinez ensures that all defendants in custody at the Webb County Jail are brought to court to attend their respective court proceedings. Mr. Martinez is also a member of the 406 th District Court Warrant Enforcement Division.

In April of 2003, County Court at Law One Judge Alvino “Ben” Morales, in
conjunction with Israel Reyna, director of Texas Rural Legal Aid (TRLA), presented this
project to the Board of Judges. A resolution was passed by all of the Judges in Webb
County and the project got underway on July 8th, 2003. Judge Morales was present to
preside over the first court case filings.

Hon. Jesus "Chuy" Garza

Judge Jesus Garza was born and raised in Laredo. He is a product of LISD and graduated from J.W. Nixon High School in 1977. Upon graduation he enrolled at the University of Texas and earned a Bachelor of Journalism in 1981. In 1984 he received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston and was licensed to practice law in the State of Texas in 1985.
