My only experience with judge Kent was having my fathers' P.I. asbestos case moved from his coure to a Houston court. In that one experience, I got the impression he was a fair judge and based on that first impression I believe he is being persecuted because of some judgement(s) he made on the bench in the past. His sexual antics, however major or minor, were simply used to bring him down.

By the way, I don't believe Mary Ann and Sam were high school sweethearts...they knew each other then, but didn't develop their relationship until college. After they were married, he discouraged her from graduating from college...and let me tell you, she was a very intelligent woman. When Mary Ann was dying, he treated her family like dirt and controlled their visitations. It was all very sad and I've heard some questionable things occurred during her illness. To me he is not the wonderful husband some might think he was. He was a scumbag. And Mary Ann's illness and death are NO excuse for the evil and illegal choices he has made!

Something not stated here is that Kent was not tried on the other charges because of the plea bargain he accepted to avoid them. He should be impeached and no mercy given. Period.

I have known Sam Kent since very early childhood. From ages 2 thru 7 I lived next door to him. I renewed my friendship with him in the time before he was appointed to the Federal Bench. I have a very conflicted view of this. First let me state that in my opinion Sam was very verbally abusive to his wife while in my presence. I do know that Sam was a caregiver for his father Ned Kent when he was dying. All in all this is a very sad case and a testement to the evil of alcoholism.
